Google readying Android app to manage storage, share files without internet

Google has just officially launched the new Files Go free file manager for Android and you can get it on the Google Play Store at the link below.

More alarming, this fake version of the Android WhatsApp app was downloaded a million times from the Google Play Store before users discovered the fraud, and Google removed it, tech news blog ZDNet reports.

Since first appearing earlier this year, the malware has gained improved code obfuscation, a more sophisticated payload dropping functionality, and the ability to exploit Android's Accessibility Service in a similar way to other forms of mobile banking malware. The app takes less than 6MB of your phone's storage.

PhoneArena notes that the beta isn't super stable, but the design is slick and it seems to work pretty well despite a few bugs.

Once they do, you will be able to select a file and send it to them - no Wi-Fi or cellular data required.

There will still be plenty of people who will simply download without even double-checking the Developer name carefully either. You can't, for example, access the device's root folder or even copy and paste files. Just open Files Go and send it or accept it. Simples!
